BALTIC SUMMER ACADEMY ON INTERNATIONAL HUMANITARIAN LAW – NOHA ACADEMY. CONTEMPORARY ISSUES ON INTERNATIONAL HUMANITARIAN LAW.

BSA – NOHA Academy takes place in Liskiava, Lithuania on the 14th-23rd of July in 2009.
This project brings together two existing successful initiatives, namely the Baltic Summer Academy (BSA) on International Humanitarian Law (IHL) and the NOHA Academy.
So far BSA has an objective to promote the IHL and humanitarian activities in the region. It is an intense 10 days duration IHL studies with practical assignments and moot court as a final stage, awarding participants with a diploma and providing them with a possibility to write an essay after the accomplishment of the BSA in the framework of the defined period. BSA is a successive summer course since the 2003 and has support of the Regional Delegation of the ICRC, national Red Cross Societies, governments and academic society.
NOHA Academy is an initiative of NOHA (Network on Humanitarian Assistance), international association of universities, having the aim to jointly offer seminars to heighten awareness of humanitarian issues to a broad range of social groups and to promote European humanitarian education particularly in EU member states where such need exists.
Both events have a similar constituency and goals, the integration of which allows to maximize existing measures towards the concerted high quality summer school.
